Love bridge - fills the visitor's crack with love and life

If sleeping in a double bed suffers from the visitor's crack, the love bridge provides a remedy and helps to achieve boundless togetherness.

The so-called visitor's crack between two mattresses is a real nuisance for many couples. It's not just that it gapes like an insurmountable gap between the two sides of the bed during cozy moments. The gap is also annoying and uncomfortable during sleep. All it takes is a change of sleeping position and you end up in the visitor's crack. Even if the children like to sleep in the parents' bed with you, it's only a matter of time before they roll into the uncomfortable crack between the mattresses. And when the remote control disappears without a trace, where is it most likely to be found? Right, in the depths of the crack between the mattresses.

Two become one - love bridge helps to create a 100% flat lying surface

The annoying visitor crack, which is often called a "Gräbele" in Swabian, can be comfortably closed with a love bridge. As the name suggests, the wedge made of foam closes the annoying gap between two mattresses and thus creates a 100% flat lying surface in the double bed.

Love bridge, gap filler - the problem solver for the visitor gap has many names

If you search online or in specialist shops to find out how the "visitor crack can be closed", you will come across different terms and product names. Some call the T-shaped foam wedge a love bridge or crack filler because it simply closes the annoying gap between two mattresses and brings couples in a double bed closer together. Others describe the mattress wedge as a mattress bridge or double bed bridge because it comfortably bridges the annoying gap between two mattresses, connects the actually separate lying surfaces of two mattresses and thus helps to create a continuous lying surface.

The T-shaped foam wedge, which closes the gap between two adjacent mattresses, has various names:

  • love bridge
  • crack filler
  • mattress wedge
  • Mattress bridge
  • Double bed bridge

Two mattresses and a love bridge - more comfort in a double bed

Why do you need a love bridge at all? With a continuous mattress, there is also no annoying visitor crack in the double bed. Doesn't it make more sense to buy a double mattress instead of two separate mattresses for a double bed?

The idea is obvious and for some couples it may make sense. For example, if both partners are roughly the same height or weight and prefer an identical firmness level in the mattress. However, it is usually the case that both partners have different requirements for the mattress. The firmness level of the mattress should be selected according to body weight. Tall or heavy people generally need somewhat firmer mattresses. A softer firmness is recommended for petite people. This cannot be provided by a single mattress. Sleep experts therefore recommend two separate mattresses with a connecting love bridge.

The advantages of two mattresses with a gap filler:

  • The visitor's crack is easily and comfortably closed by a love bridge.
  • Each side of the bed can be covered with a mattress whose firmness level is perfectly matched to the partner's body weight.
  • Separate slatted frames can be used to adjust the comfort of both sides of the bed separately. One side a little firmer, the other a little softer.
  • Two small mattresses are easier to maintain and often cheaper than one large double mattress.
  • If your partner moves or turns during sleep, this is not noticeable on separate mattresses.
  • If one of the two mattresses is dirty or worn out, it is not necessary to replace the whole bed.

The Liebebrücke closes the gap between two mattresses so easily

In a double bed with two mattresses next to each other, there is an annoying gap for visitors in the middle

Even if the mattresses are next to each other, there is still an uncomfortable gap in the middle. This is where the remote control, telephone or baby's pacifier sometimes disappears. Over time, dust, dander and other impurities accumulate in the gap - which is anything but hygienic.

A love bridge closes the visitor crack between two mattresses

The T-shaped love bridge is simply clamped into the gap between the two mattresses from above. The tapered shape prevents the foam wedge from coming out of the gap or slipping in it. Some mattress wedges have an additional anchor structure so that the wedge sits firmly between the mattresses like an anchor. The result is the 100% flat lying surface of a luxurious king-size bed.

The perfect complement to the love bridge: Topper and mattress toppers

The use of the love bridge can be a little tricky with mattresses of very different heights. If the difference in height is too great, the mattress wedge slips out or slips between the mattresses.

The usual height difference between two adjacent mattresses can be compensated for with a mattress topper, for example a topper with a height of 6 cm. If the difference is particularly large, a topper with a height of 9 cm is recommended.
